Election Outburst

For those of you who do not enjoy political debates... you may skip over this post. If you disagree with me and would like to comment, however, feel free. I enjoy a good discussion on politics any day. I do not take offense easily and would love to know WHAT ARE YOU THINKING if you want to vote for McCain!!

Really people, what on earth would draw you to this man? I was watching the discussion held in CA at the Saddleback church last night ... almost every question he answered had a WAR slant on it. Since when is considering yourself an "expert" on war a positive thing that would qualify you to be the next president. War seems to be on his mind all the time - this is NOT the kind of man that is going to get America OUT of wars that it should not be involved in in the first place.

He was asked the question (paraphrased from what I remember): Is there evil in the world and what should we do about it... He says: yes there is and we should defeat it - We should hunt down Osama Bin Laden.

What is he thinking? ... since when is Osama THE evil in the world!!

Perhaps he may want to consider a couple of other evils in the world - like world hunger and poverty . Oh , and the US health system!

I also loved his answer to the question about his faith "I am born again and saved". Congratulations - at what stage of the day did you tick that off your to-do list?

I will have to stop my little outburst at this point - my children are trying to convince me that they are suffering from starvation!

Hola from Arizona,

I for one am leaning towards McCain. My vote will be for the lesser of two evils. I believe in small government, lower taxes, private insurance. I am strongly pro life and believe in the right to bear arms. I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and the benefits of that union should remain exclusive to marriage between a man and a woman. Yes, I am a conservative and a patriot. My convictions come from my knowledge of the gospel and modern revelation.

There will always be war. There was war in the Book of Mormon times and there will be war in our time.

I believe that welfare in this country is widely abused and should be reformed.

I welcome people from all countries to come to this land and enjoy the American dream. BUT do it legally!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not think that a person who makes more money should be forced to pay higher taxes. I believe in agency and the goodness of the human heart. I know too many people who are successfull and are happy to share their success without the government forcing their hand. I believe we make better choices than the government when it comes to our money. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to pay taxes, but I would love to see a flat tax.

I am excited for Sarah Palin as a VP. And I am excited to be an American. Only in this country can one agree to disagree and remain friends.

I can not support a candidate who sits in a congregation where hatred is preached. I understand that a person can change, and that Obama has spoken out against Reverend Wright. I feel that he did that under pressure. If I were to attend church and hear those things coming from the pulpit, I would most certainly find a new church. It would not take me 20 years and a campaign to figure out those are not the words I believe in. No matter ones religion, we attend church because we believe in what is being taught there. This speaks strongly to me of Obamas character. Had I not heard Reverend Wright myself, I would not use this to weigh in on my choice.

I believe that life begins at conception. Abortion is not birth control and a botched abortion most certainly does not give a person the right to take that life. I was appalled when I heard his view on this.

He has wonderful ideas of helping the lower income families. The only problem is we can only help those who help themselves. In this country there are more fat, lazy, smoking, beer drinking, video playing, cable watching people on welfare than in any other country. There is something wrong when even our poor people can afford these vices. We don't need more government sponsered programs, we need families to embrace values.

Enough of my soap box. We miss you, your children are beautiful.

Hugs to everyone,

Janet
