As you might have gathered, it is tradition to ask each child their best, worst and funniest thing at the close of the day. Tonight I will share with you mine:
Best: Liam falling asleep in my arms this afternoon. This does not happen often - but due to pure exhaustion from diarrhoea for two days... he curled up with his blanket and thumb in mouth sucked his way to sleep cuddled up in my arms.
Worst: A flood of incompetent diapers and layers of clothes contaminated by the foulest smelling poop - reminds me ... I need to get a another load of laundry done.
Funniest thing: I am reassured that Mila and Julia have not yet given up on me. They constantly attempt to help me "fill in" while Kurt is away. They say things like "That is not how Daddy does it.... he does it like this...". At bed time, Kurt tells the girls what he is going to be blowing into their dreams (fairies, flowers etc.) and then blows into his hands like he working some kind of magic. Julia gets a laugh every night when she asks me to "blow her a dream". Unintentionally a wiggle my fingers or make a rrrrr sound while I am blowing - or something equally inappropriate and apparently inaccurate as to how it should be done! Tonight despite my best effort and Julia's patience in demonstrating for the umteenth time .... I surrendered exclaiming: "well this is how mama blows a dream!" in a fit of giggles.

Oh, I love that ... asking children their best, worst and funniest things of the day. And "blowing into their dreams" ... what a lovely way to go to sleep. Communication seems like such an obvious thing but so many times children don't get the opportunity to say what's on their minds. This is really a lovely way to get them talking.
BTW ... thank you for following Reduce Footprints. I'm going to follow you, as well, and I'll put you on my blog roll.
