Five Great Discoveries

1. Last night as I was furiously cleaning before hosting preschool today... I thought how wonderful MR Clean Magic Eraser is. A great friend and mother of 3, Elana, told me about it as I was complaining about crayon and pen marks on my walls a couple of years ago. It was a revelation. What a relief! Although I will do my best to keep crayons/ pens/pencils out of Liam's hands, he inevitably will hunt one down and sneak off to a quiet place where he will silently and gleefully create till the eerie quiet alerts me.

2. Last year I discovered Aveeno Eczema Cream just before they took it off the shelves. The latest scoop on the web was that the FDA had forced the product removal because it was claiming to TREAT a medical condition .... and treat it it did! Well, when I was at Walmart last week picking up Twizzlers and the like for my twizzler-starved family in SA, I came across Aveeno Advanced Care. The coloring on the bottle was just like the Eczema Cream. I promptly whipped out my cell phone to phone Aveeno (the no. on the back of the cream) and after a very long wait I got through to a person who confirmed it was the SAME stuff. If any of you have eczema or dry skin issues ... you should try this!

3. SKYPE: For those of you who live close to everyone you want to talk to regularly.... you will not understand my dependence on this technological miracle. Via skype (a free download), I get to chat FREE to family and friends all over the world. It is my connection. I can still get Mom and Dad's advice, check in with my sisters, chat to Kurt at work. I even chatted to an old school friend who was living in South America a couple of years ago. I am a communicator (sometimes to Kurt's dismay I am sure:). And skype is just one place that gives me a voice ... and sometimes more importantly lets me hear others' voices. I chat with my mom who is living in GHANA, frequently (and to my DAD - who has sometimes met his quota of words for the day by the time I get hold of him - but will always listen). Right now I can (and DO) chat to Kurt who is representing our family in SA. I think it is very reassuring for the children to be able to see him with the web cam and here his voice frequently. For me it just makes the world a smaller place.. and those I love a little closer.

4. Yoga

5. The Gospel. It seems out of place to discuss my deep love for the understanding I have gained of our purpose on earth here (it just doesn't seem right to be talking about Mr Clean one minute and then eternal goals and truths in the next). But that is really how life is, isn't it? It is both small simple day to day things and the deeper feelings and knowledge that communicate with our spirit that bring us joy. How could I omit probably the greatest discovery of my life? The knowledge that I am a daughter of God. That I can live eternally with my family. That God knows and loves each of us.
