The Sit In

This boy and his facial expressions keep me smiling(or should I say "these boys"?)
Sitting down in anticipation of THE SPEECH 01/20
We are at that stage when trying to feed him is useless. He has that wiff of independence and will pursue it with all vigor in all areas.
I love this face. Who would have thought I had more love. SO much more love.

Liam has finally discovered how to communicate effectively with me about a VERY important topic .... FOOD. We have been through a difficult time since Kurt and I came back from Florida. I was breastfeeding when we left (more frequently than you would think at his age). And although he was quite happy to eat regular food when I was away.... as soon as I was home he expected milk on tap.
My enthusiasm for being unzipped and undressing at his command all day, however, was waning and so was my milk supply. He would want breastmilk over food and then get very frustrated when what he got did not nearly satisfy the gaping hole that is his stomach. To complicate things he got sick, and nothing soothes the aches of illness like flow of love through the breast! So I put my own need for space aside and committed to nurse through the cold (despite my lack of milk).
The past couple of days Liam has discovered the sit in approach to eating. I put him in his chair to eat ... and he refuses to leave untill he is sufficiently saturated. This morning that meant he was in his chair for almost an hour. One bowl of oat porridge and FOUR wheatabix later. Yes FOUR, with applesauce and milk, as he directed .... he was finally ready to leave his throne and proceed with the day. He is very happy again, his comedic self between meals.
I have been warned more than once of the appetite of boys. But seeing as my girls can eat almost anyone under the table, I thought there would not be THAT much difference. Liam is surprising me though. I think he may have eaten more than me today!
He is less inclined to want to breastfeed during the day .... still likes a nightcap though. But so do I.
