RACCOONS
Here's the update: Tonight I was overcome by the feeling that something very BIG was going to come tumbling through the chimney. There was thumping and chirping (yes, chirping) and squealing and .... it was very unpleasant. I was picturing, from the loudness of it all, something the size of Liam rolling around in the chimney and falling from various heights. So I took my trusty ladder outside to investigate... and Kurt's torch (flashlight). I shone the torch, while perched on top of the ladder, towards the broken chimney. I did not expect to see anything. For what would come out to be seen? But in just a few moments the RACCOON, who has been helping herself to our garbage and rubbing herself against the kitchen windows as I while away my time visiting blogs etc., came right out into the spotlight I had created. I looked at her and she at me. Then a playful little raccoon cub pushed his way onto the stage. Mystery solved. No squirrels involved after all!
