I am finding it really hard to get any blogging done lately.... There is no time to put down my ideas because I am too busy reading everyone else's! The financial crisis really seems to be the beginning of the end of "the world as we know it"!
I did enjoy the presidential debate last Thursday though. My friend emailed me with some thoughts on it, and here is an extract of my reply ( just killing two birds...)
"OF COURSE I watched the debate....Kurt was so excited he went out to buy ice cream so we could sit and eat ice cream while we watched!! I thought it was great. I am also pleasantly suprised and impressed that Obama continues to hold himself above the petty, misleading criticism and stick to the facts. I also thought it was rude of McCain not to look at Obama when he was speaking to him... did you notice that?
But I was also more impressed with McCain than I have been in the past. I do not agree with his Iraq war fixation but he did show a deeper understanding of Foreign affairs than I gave him credit for.
At the moment, even George Bush is encouraging MORE government (A LOT more government)... so I do not think less Government is an option right now, in the current economic crisis. But in theory, and in other circumstances - with a government that has not got the country into trillions of dollars of debt- I agree with you (small government should be a good thing!)"
Let me know what you thoughts on the debate....
I cannot wait for this Thursday - the Vice Presidential debate. Another excuse to sit and eat ice cream!

I thought Obama was beating around the bush alot, not answering direct questions (even when they were repeated multiple time by both McCain and Jim Lehrer). That's my big beef with Obama, he won't fess up to his mistakes, and evades important issues. Alot of the time I'm unclear on his position because he's so vague. I can't identify his strengths and weaknesses. Where McCain, I can identify his weaknesses, and they are in areas that are very important to me (healthcare, education, economics). So do I vote for the guy whose weaknesses I can identify, or the guy who remains a mystery? At this point, I am still undecided.
Very interesting Kristin - I am going to have to take a look at that debate again through your eyes...the thing I like about about Obama is that he is not evasive and deals with the issues.
Obama's Blueprint for Change (Obama's plan for America) addresses his beliefs and more importantly goals under many topics. The highlights for me are his healthcare, education, foreign policy and fiscal discipline plans

I wish he would adopt McCains approach to small business (I dont really understand his.)
McCain on the other hand, also has impressive plans for health care reform and reforming government. I like his ideas to support small business but am not sure he will follow through on governmnet reform and find his economic and foreign policies weak. Particularly I am against the war in Iraq.... and increasingly irritated by Palin's ignorance of world affairs.
I am glad you are questioning who to vote for and not whether to vote though... Just VOTE for whoever YOU feel will do the best job. I am excited that either of them will be an improvement on the current president!
Please VOTE because you CAN!
