We had a fun time with friends on Friday evening celebrating Liam's birthday. I love FIRST birthday's because I get to choose the cake.... so of course Liam had cheesecake as his birthday cake. Yum. Oh and we had boerewors rolls with tamato bredie for dinner. Actually we can't get egte (real) boerewors here ... but we get great sausages at Sprouts... that worked.
I am loving every day with Liam and Julia - sometimes I get lost in the effort it takes to keep the house tidy and accomplish well ... most anything with little children underfoot. But right now I have this clarity of how precious and short lived this stage is. I feel an urgency to treasure every moment - every book we read together, cuddling on the couch, each laugh, each tear that is mine to dry.
I feel so blessed to have these beautiful children that look up to me for guidance, comfort, knowledge and most importantly, love.
I mentioned that we recently moved Liam into Julia's room. We are wondering why we did not do that a LONG time ago. Julia seems so much more settled - like a calm has come over her with her brother nearby. (This is not what we expected!) This last week she has not been coming out of her room again and again after bedtime, which she has been doing persistently for months, despite my sternest warnings;). As soon as I put Liam to bed, she just cuddles up and settles down. Have I said how grateful I am for Liam??
