Inspired

I listened to Obama's speech this morning... again and again.

I have been thinking about it all day. Finally we have a political candidate worth voting for. Finally someone willing to call a spade a spade. I love that he speaks frankly about race and the need to work through race issues in this country. I love that he did not skirt around issues but addressed them head on. I love that in one speech he gives insight into the fear behind racism that motivates black, white, asian, hispanic etc. to buy into stereotypes.

He speaks powerfully and I hope he will be the Nelson Mandela of America. Able to reconcile and inspire tolerance in a country that is in denial of the underlying racisim here. I love that he recognises the anger and resentment harboured by all races .. and how destructive this can be in building a united country.

I am sick of being "politically correct" to the extent that we pretend we are all the same. I embrace that we are different - that we have unique, rich cultures. No, I am not colour blind. I was raised in a segregated South Africa. But I have never held the belief that one person is better than another. Fundamentally I believe we are children of God who can achieve incredible things if we can just accept and embrace our differences.

Viva Obama... forget the distractions and let us move forward and BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE in the world.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
Barack Obama
speaking to supporters on "Super Tuesday"

We have the opportunity of applying for citizenship this year. I cannot think of another politician besides Nelson Mandela who has inspired me as I feel inspired today. I want to be able to vote for him.

Was interested in listening to this, but your music audio interfered with my being able to hear it. I couldn't figure out how to mute it without losing the speech as well. Am I a computer moron?
